Hi, I’m Angelica.
I’m a bilingual journalist based in Houston, and I have a passion for writing and reporting on underserved communities.
I believe approaching journalism with care and compassion creates impact and puts resources in front of those who need them the most.
I aim to engage with communities that traditionally have not seen themselves reflected in media.
About me
I’m currently a civic engagement reporter at Houston Landing, where I write explainers and guides to help Houstonians understand difficult topics or navigate complex systems. These stories include topics such as how to file police complaints, determining if a neighborhood is in a cancer cluster and understanding how to apply for naturalization.
I work closely with the audience team to connect with readers at flea markets and coffee shops and through Facebook, and videos.
In 2022, I graduated from UT Arlington with a journalism degree. While at UTA, I served as editor-in-chief of the student newspaper. I previously interned with The Dallas Morning News and KERA News.
